Repeat Prescriptions

Order your repeat prescriptions at Tiverton Pharmacy

We strongly encourage all our patients to use the official NHS App or the NHS website for ordering repeat prescriptions. This is the fastest, safest, and most secure way to manage your medication needs.

Order Repeat Prescriptions

The Easiest Way: Use the NHS App

The NHS App is the best way to order your repeat medication, book appointments, and view your medical records.

How to Order using the NHS App:

  1. Download: If you don't already have it, download the NHS App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Log In: Log in securely using NHS login (you may need to set this up with photo ID if it's your first time).
  3. Find Your Repeats: Navigate to the "Prescriptions" section.
  4. Select & Nominate: Choose the items you need and nominate Tiverton Pharmacy as your preferred dispensing pharmacy.
  5. Submit: Your request will be sent directly to your GP surgery for approval.

Key Benefit: You can track the progress of your request directly through the app, giving you confidence that your order has been received by your GP.

Important Information & Timelines

Processing Time

Please be aware of the two key steps involved in the repeat prescription process:

  1. GP Processing Time (Usually 48-72 hours): Your GP surgery needs time to review and approve your order. This timeline is set by your surgery, not the pharmacy.
  2. Pharmacy Dispensing Time (Usually 48 hours): Once we receive the electronic prescription from your GP, we aim to have it ready for collection or delivery within 48 hours.

We recommend ordering your medication at least 7 days before you are due to run out.

Electronic Prescribing Service (EPS)

Tiverton Pharmacy uses EPS to receive prescriptions securely and quickly from your doctor.

  • Nomination: Please ensure you have nominated us as your preferred pharmacy. If you haven't, or if you need to change your nomination, please inform us or update your preference in the NHS App.

Medication Reviews

If your GP has indicated that you need a medication review, you will not be able to order that item until you have spoken to your doctor. Please contact your GP surgery directly to arrange the review.
